CloseMadeline Roelofsma leads the People Insights team at the Ministry of Justice, the largest government department with just over 90,000 employees. Her small team undertakes qualitative research to understand and improve the lived/felt experience of staff right across the organisation. Over the past 17 years she has worked in a variety of Civil Service roles including: being responsible for data integrity during the short-lived introduction of ID Cards; as Head of Secretariat at the Department of Business; and running a Ministerial briefing hub during the steel crisis.
Madeline has a PhD from the University of London (for her research into cultural representations of physical disability in Spain) and lives in Essex with her Dutch husband, student daughter and a cavapoo called Ophelia.
Laura Main is the Head of Human Resources for Network Rail High Speed, where she leads the design and delivery of the people and training strategy. Over the last 10 years, she has worked in several HR roles within the rail industry, which have included leading the delivery of transformational change programmes to improve operational performance.
Laura is passionate about encouraging and supporting young women into work, particularly within the railway sector. She has led the successful delivery of a series of initiatives to improve representation of females in leadership roles to 40%over the course of her tenure in Network Rail High Speed.
In her spare time, Laura is a keen musician who plays the violin and piano, and enjoys ballet

As Head of Employee Engagement at Rolls-Royce, one of the world’s leading global power groups, he has used data to deliver targeted and broad culture change within their Defence division, Head Office and across the broader Group in a variety of leadership roles over the last 5 years.
He currently leads on Employee Experience, Leadership and Performance Management in Rolls-Royce’s Civil Aerospace division, developing highly targeted interventions that help leaders to inspire, motivate and enable their people to deliver high performance in a business that was heavily impacted by and still recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic. People are at the heart of Rolls Royce’s organisational excellence strategy and James is pivotal in keeping the workforce energised and engaged.
James is a qualified Gallup Strengths Coach and a strong believer in Gallup’s philosophies. As a father to two young boys, his passion for strengths-based development extends into all aspects of his life.
