Five ways to fix trust and engagement before your team checks out

Five ways to fix trust and engagement before your team checks out

UK engagement is at 10 per cent. Trust is slipping. Here’s what you can do to stop the slide – and start turning things around.

In a challenging economic climate, organisations are under pressure to increase productivity, which often means asking more of already overworked employees. Not only can this lead to higher levels of stress and even burnout, but it can also result in frustrated employees who feel less motivated. For some, the rise of remote working has also added to the burden, with many feeling isolated from colleagues.

Research by Gallup finds global employee engagement fell to 21 per cent in 2024, only the second fall since 2009. In the UK, the situation is notably worse; just 10 per cent of workers say they feel engaged, below the European average of 13 per cent.
