Mike is the Head of HR Shared Services and Reward at Midland Heart, who employ 1,600 colleagues providing 33,000 quality affordable homes for over 70,000 customers to rent or buy across the wider Midlands alongside award-winning accommodation-based services for Retirement & Supported Living.
Mike has enjoyed a successful generalist HR management career across a range of sectors, including food retail, further education, facilities management and housing. Mike’s move to Midland Heart in 2016 saw him focus more on pensions, rewards and benefits strategies and ensuring that colleagues understand and maximise what is on offer. He is also the Chair of the Pensions Board for the West Midland Pension Fund.
Ksenia is Head of Research and Thought Leadership at CIPD, responsible for research innovation and capability development. Since joining in 2013 she led a number of projects, including a major research programme, Profession for the Future, investigating principles-based approach to professional standards as a way of driving ethical and sustainable decision-making by the business.
Prior to the CIPD, Ksenia was a researcher at The Work Foundation, working on Future of HR, Leadership, and Health and Well-being streams. With a background in organisational psychology, she holds a PhD in Management from Lancaster University, where her research examined the effects of leaders’ sacrificial behaviours on followers.
Charles Cotton is the CIPD’s performance and reward specialist. He directs the Institute’s research agenda on reward and
is also responsible for its public policy work on pay and benefits. Charles frequently appears in the media commentating on reward and is often invited to present on his research at events. You can follow him through Twitter or LinkedIn. He is a fellow of the CIPD.
