Salary sacrifice car schemes continue to be a popular choice for employees – and with recent tax amendments they make an excellent option for employees, too. The changes introduced in April 2020 means the benefit-in-kind rate is now 0% for electric cars for the 2020-21 financial year – and this tax saving will remain for the next five years. Recent research from LeasePlan revealed that the appeal for company cars is on the rise post-pandemic with people keener than ever to use their own vehicles rather than using public transport. And there has been an increased demand for electric vehicles in particular, due to the rapid improvements in air quality during lockdown.
