Martyn leads the people & learning function for The People Trust. He joined in April 2016 from the Children's Investment Fund Foundation, an independent philanthropic organisation seeking to transform the lives of poor & vulnerable children in developing countries, where he held the post of HR Director.
Prior to CIFF, Martyn was Director of HR & Organisational Development at Fairtrade Foundation, with responsibility for devising and implementing the organisation’s first People Strategy.
Martyn previously held senior HR roles at British Red Cross. Preceding his experience in the not-for-profit sector, Martyn spent several years specialising in recruitment & selection in the private sector. Martyn is a member of the Engage for Success Taskforce and the Chair of the not-for-profit thought and action group. He is a business graduate and a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development)
Jo’s professional background spans over 25 years with extensive ‘blue chip’ experience in both the IT and telecommunications industries having worked at IBM, Ericsson and Motorola. Jo began her career in IBM and has held a variety of director level and senior positions both nationally and globally. She also has several years experience working as an Interim Executive across a wide variety of public, private and charitable sectors.
Her experience covers many functional disciplines experience and includes General Management, Operations, Marketing Strategy Development and Implementation. She is an experienced negotiator and has overseen 3 mergers and 2 acquisitions and is acutely aware of the challenges faced when bringing multiple organisations together with a shared culture.
Jo’s passion is working with people. She is a highly experienced coach and over the last 15 years has been recognised for her ability to effectively develop individuals at all levels of an organisation, from graduate programmes to Board level. Her approach is highly collaborative and is based on allowing individuals the space to explore their choices and develop inspiring, achievable goals supported by robust action plans. She has worked extensively in schools focusing on empowering students to maintain a broad perspective whilst considering options for their future pathways.
Jo is married with two daughters and lives in Surrey. UK.
