Make the most of the benefits boost

Want to improve employee wellbeing, engagement and productivity, as well as polishing your employer brand? Make sure your benefits are fit for a flexible future

When it comes to talent, 2022 is a sellers’ market. Unemployment is close to historic lows, at only 3.8%, and in May there were a record 1.3m job vacancies in the UK. The post-pandemic economic restart has driven up demand for employees on the one hand, while the Great Resignation has constricted supply on the other.

There are also rising concerns over burnout, lack of employee engagement and health. Sickness absence is up to 2.2%, the highest figure since 2010. And according to the Office of National Statistics, the level of self-reported stress, depression or anxiety at work rose to 2,480 cases per 100,000 in 2020/2021 – up from around 1,500/100,000 in the early noughties.
